Ken Mahanes

Dr. Ken Mahanes was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He is a graduate of Georgetown College with a degree in communication. He earned both masters and PhD degrees at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky and has done post-graduate studies at Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

For 30 years, Dr. Mahanes served in the pastorate, nearly 20 of these years as Senior Pastor of the 3,500 member Far Hills Church in Dayton, Ohio. He has spoken to churches and church groups from Canada to Colombia, South America and is a popular speaker for college and university chapel services. Dr. Mahanes has written numerous published articles and is a contributor to the book, Southern Baptist Preaching Today. He has traveled throughout the Middle East on four occasions as well as having traveled extensively in Europe.

In 1998, Dr. Mahanes left the pastorate to become the first full-time dean of the School of Ministry at Palm Beach Atlantic University. During 2002-03, Dr. Mahanes was selected by the Board of Trustees to serve as the Interim President of Palm Beach Atlantic University. When a new president was hired in 2003, Dr. Mahanes became Vice President for Religious Life. In 2007 he was appointed Special Adviser to the President, a position he held until his retirement in 2018.

Dr. Mahanes is active in the community and has spoken at numerous churches in the area. For 6 months, he served as the Interim Pastor of the Royal Poinciana Chapel on Palm Beach and for 7 years he served as the Pastor of Lost Tree Chapel, a non-denominational chapel located on Singer Island in North Palm Beach while simultaneously fulfilling his full-time responsibilities at the University.

He has been married to his wife, Evelyn, for 52 years and they are the parents of two sons, Mark, who works for Microsoft and lives in Dallas, Texas, and David, an independent film producer in Austin, Texas. Evelyn and Ken are the proud grandparents of four grandchildren.

Cindy Miller

Cindy’s prior experience includes 12 years with the First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach. Beginning as an administrative assistant in 2003, she became the Office Administrator/Manager in 2006 where she served until 2015.  Cindy is a native Floridian. She lives in Lake Worth with her husband Marc, and their golden retriever Sky. Between them, Cindy and Marc have seven children and fifteen, grandchildren. Before working for the church, Cindy had a full career in law enforcement working with the Town of Palm Beach and the State of Florida Motor Carrier Compliance Division of the Department of Transportation. Cindy loves to read and enjoys family get-togethers.

Sandy Schmidt

Sandy came to Lost Tree Chapel in the summer of 2018. She has over twenty years of financial bookeeping experience, a degree in Organizational Management from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a degree in Business Administration from Palm Beach Community College. Sandy has two children and one grandchild. She lives in Jupiter and enjoys outdoor activities like long walks in the park and peaceful moments on the beach.

Chris Flanagan

Chris came to Lost Tree Chapel in  October of 2015 after 40 years of service as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service. He was involved in Worship Music and Arts at Trinity United Methodist Church in Palm Beach Gardens where he assisted the Worship and youth bands for 10 years. Along with his wife Cheryl, he was also active in youth ministries and missions during that time. Chris and Cheryl have three children and two 5 year old grandsons.  In his spare time he manages and maintains their rental property, plays guitar, racquetball and helps Cheryl with her part-time catering business.

Sandra Palmberg

Sandra came to LTC in January 2019 after leaving the mission field in Haiti. Sandra and her husband trained in Buellton California becoming licensed missionaries with Destiny World Mission. Prior to living in Haiti for 2 years Sandra and her husband led short term mission trips to Haiti for 5 ½ years before moving to Haiti.

Other short-term mission trips include Mexico and Africa. Prior to missions Sandra managed college bookstores and owned a landscaping business.
Sandra resides in Lake Worth with her husband Brian. They have 3 grown children and 9 beautiful grandchildren.
Sandra enjoys serving God, camping and spending time with family and friends.
